A wide variety of activities took place at the Communities in Action for Peace and Inclusion (CAPI) project in the rural municipalities of Cubal, Ganda and Balombo in Benguela Province.
International Children’s Day on 1 June was the setting for recreational activities as part of the CAPI project. 420 pupils from 28 de Agosto Primary School and Akarangolo Primary School in Casseque, municipality of Ganda enjoyed the fun and games, and the prizes awarded to the winners and participants. The Head of Section for Science & Technology Education attended the event on behalf of the Municipal Director of Education of Ganda, together with members of Casseque Communal Administration, the Field Coordinator of CAPI, the Director, Deputy Director and teachers from 28 de Agosto Primary School, the Municipal CAPI Coordinator, traditional authorities, program leaders, the CAPI M&E assistant, and members of the community.
On 6 June, more than 30 trainee primary teachers gathered at TTS ADPP Benguela for a refresher session on the use of the School Peace Manual produced by the CAPI (Communities in Action for Peace and Inclusion) project. Already fully engaged in giving lessons and organising actions within the CAPI project, the students shared reports of their activities, showcasing the impact of work in the communities, and leaving no one in doubt about the importance of the school programme.
Meanwhile, on the 28th June, the CAPI project organized a training session on conflict management and peace building under the motto "Change Starts With Me. The event, attended by 60 government employees, focused on negotiation, communication styles, and mediation as strategies for conflict resolution. The interactive session aimed to enhance relationships in professional, family, and community settings.
Held at the Teacher Training School ADPP Benguela, the sessions was opened by Dr. António Fernando, of the Provincial Deparmennt of Education, representing the governor of Benguela province.
