In the year 2019, for the first time, Cankids inaugurated its P2L clinics in association with 3 hospitals - King George's Medical University Lucknow, Nil Ratan Sircar, Kolkata, and Tata Medical Center, Kolkata. TMC, Kolkata became the first private hospital partnership under this initiative. The inauguration of the clinic in collaboration with TMC and launch of Passport was attended by the former Padma Shri awardee and Medical Director of Tata Medical Centre Kolkata – Dr. Mommen Chandi, Dr. VR Ramanan- Deputy Medical Director of TMC, Ms. Sonal Sharma- Co-Founder & Director Parent & Survivor Groups of Cankids, Dr. Arpita Bhattacharya & Dr. Parthasarathi Bhattacharyya. The 1st clinic at TMC was conducted on the 6th July 2019 & will be operational every 2nd Saturday of each month. It aims to cater to 10 survivors per clinic.
So far Cankids has successfully conducted over 26 such clinics which have recorded survivor participation of over 175.

New Delhi: On the 19th and 20th May, a Survivor passport Follow Up clinic was held at Cankids…Kidscan, Gautam Nagar, Delhi. The first Passport2Life (P2L) clinic was held in Delhi in the year 2017 which was followed by another clinic at Delhi, and clinics at Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Delhi. the survivors. The session on "Late Side Effects" was conducted by Dr. Vikramjit Kanwar and on "Fertility" by Dr. Puneet Arora. The clinic was attended by 35 survivors who got their follow up done successfully. A motivational talk was also delivered by Ms. Poonam Bagai, Chairperson Cankids...KidsCan.

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale and the contributions nurses make to society. This year the global theme was "A Voice to lead - Health for All".
CanKids is celebrating Nurses day since 2013, during which we have felicitated over 6000 nurses. The celebration is an initiative to give a token of love from Children suffering from Cancer to show gratitude to Nurses for extending relentless love, care, and support to children suffering from Cancer.
This year Cankids celebrated Nurses day in 56 Pediatric oncology centers across India and felicitated over 1700 nurses. In the learning activity that was held at treating centers children learned about the role of Nurses. The education team taught children with cancer to honor, respect, regard and thank those who help them. Also, children performed some fun activities created handmade badges and pinned them to nurses and gifted them- My Nurse, My Angel greeting card along with gifts as a token of love.
While the Nurses across all the partnering treating Cancer Centers were felicitated. Special love was extended to our own Palliative care Nurses at our Pediatric Palliative Care Center that Cankids runs at Gautam Nagar, Delhi.
Cankids is committed to building capacities of Nurses so that they are able to provide better standards of care to children. Under the 100 Nurses project that was done jointly with Jiv Daya, dedicated Nursing Staff is provided to the partnering treating Cancer centers where training and observership are also undertaken.

New Delhi: In September 2018 WHO announced a new effort- the WHO Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer- with the aim of reaching at least a 60 % survival rate for children with cancer by 2030, thereby saving an additional one million lives.
To focus attention on ‘’Childhood Cancer’’ and to discuss the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Initiative on Childhood Cancer, a stakeholder meeting was organized on 24th June 2019. There was representation from the pediatric oncology community - Pediatric Hematology Oncology (PHO) Chapter of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and Indian Pediatric Oncology Group (InPOG) as well as civil society Cankids Kidscan. The town hall was held at Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket and sponsored by Cankids.

New Delhi: On the 25th and 26th of June 2019 history was made when Ms. Ritu Bhalla delivered the opening statement ahead of the Welcome Address by Regional Director – Dr. Poonam Khetarpal Singh at the 2-day WHO SEAR Workshop where Cancer leaders from 10 South-East Asian Nations were present to witness it. Ms. Ritu Bhalla, a cancer survivor and leader of KidsCan Konnect (KCK), a teenage and young adult survivors group of CanKids…KidsCan. She was diagnosed with cancer twice. First at the age of 4 with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and the second time at the age of 11 with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. In her opening address, She spoke about her cancer experience extending on childhood cancer scenario in India, demonstrating reasons to take it as a key priority and raising key demanding questions as a call to action.

Intervention Services, a systemic approach of early identification and link to care, support, and treatment. Building capacities for childhood cancer is a key intervention of Cankids' MoU with the state government of Maharashtra Health department, signed earlier this year in the month of February. The program was a part of the international Retinoblastoma week held each year in May worldwide. Cankids' stakeholder initiative Fight RB India aims at early detection, diagnosis, and quality medical care for all RB children to attain international standards of survival i.e 90-95%. Also during the RB awareness week, Cankids conducted Parent Survivor Group (PSG) forums at various participatory centers during which awareness kits were created and distributed across 36 participatory centers and 18 Regional ophthalmology centers.

Bengaluru: This year Cankids inaugurated its sixth Home Away from Home center (HAH) in Bengaluru. It was all possible because of a dream shared by Mr. Shantanu Das, who after losing his father to cancer, was resolute in providing better standards of care to children fighting with cancer. In its pursuit, he built a luxury home in Bangalore only to denote it to this cause. That's when his search stopped at Cankids..KidsCan and now he is a part of Cankids' family.
The new HAH will provide support to 16 families at a time from three hospitals Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center (Bommasandra Narayana Health), Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences. For economically disadvantaged families, based outside Bangalore City, visiting these treating centers could find low-cost accommodation for the long and continuous childhood cancer treatment. Salil Nivas is equipped with semi-private accommodation with room kits, kitchen kits, and school kits. It also houses a schoolroom and multifunctional area for organizing various events.

| Girl Childhood Cancer Survivorship Study Under Girl Childhood Cancer Survivors and Patients Project (GCCPP) |
|
Considering the gender bias and high abandonment rate for girl cancer survivors in Haryana, CanKids...KidsCan initiated a project on Girl Childhood Cancer Survivors and Patient with four girl cancer survivors to eliminate the externalities. The project is now expanded to a one-year empowerment research study namely “The Girl Child Cancer Survivorship Study” lead by Ritu Bhalla (KcK Leader and GCCA) and Sitara Khan (Delhi Chapter Head) along with two interns Riya Sama D/O Gini Gulati, Director NOP Cankids...KidsCan, and Tarini Mohan under the guidance of Mr. Ankit Taluja (DGM Informatics) and Vatsna (Research Consultant). This study will include analysis of data collected from hospitals in 24 cities and 17 states as they represent the cities in which CanKids has Hospital Support Units (CHSUs), where CanKids provide support services for children with cancer through social workers and social support staff.
To capture data for study CanKids started a Girl Brigade where the objective was to provide a platform for girls to share their cancer experiences and to conduct girl child forums where important issues can be discussed under a panel of oncologists, psycho-oncologist, and counselor. So far CanKids has conducted Girl Child forums in 6 cities in Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai culminating in July. The forums saw participation from girl child patients’, siblings’, parents’, and survivors’ who discussed and clarified their doubts regarding childhood cancer.
