10 Ways Innovation Is Important for Mission Work

What would happen if we applied innovation to mission? 

Innovation is an important part of Resonate's work as we partner with churches to spread the gospel. So, how do we innovate in mission? Here are ten ways.

Our Partnership

Mission innovation and diaspora ministry is exciting work. This year, I am committed to bringing to you my support needs in clear ways. The reality is that funding for missions is changing in the Christian Reformed Church. We recognize that we are all in together for God’s mission today and I am thankful for the partnership we have together.

Let us invest together the resources that God has given us so that God’s church flourishes. God is at work in the multicultural church and that is exciting. Henri Nouwen encourages us to trust Paul’s words in 2 Cor. 9:11 “You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity.”

Here is my plan:

1. 30 by 30

This will be my fundraising motto this year. My hope is to have 30 new individual monthly donors by December 30, 2022 and then another 30 individual monthly donors by June 30, 2023 (our fiscal year end).

2. More Supporting Churches

I am also praying for 3 more supporting churches this year

3. Another Classis

As I have one Classis that supports my ministry, I am hoping for another.

Here is a graphic of my support needs. My overall target is now 123,000 $CDN per year. 

Prayer Requests

• We hope to have a new round of innovation experiments going by January 2023. This takes a lot of planning so please pray for this process and that people would be called to apply.
• God’s mission goes forward so please pray for clear direction for the leaders of Resonate and our MIT (Mission Innovation Team).
• One of our adaptive challenges is making space to really hear from and be led by our ethnic minority mission leaders. Please pray that this space grows into beautiful places.
• Due to staff changes in Resonate, I am currently the interim leader of our diaspora and ethnic ministry guiding team. I would appreciate prayers for wisdom to fill this position well for the time required.
