Pocklington Tennis Club in the media
BBC news coverage

As followers on social media will know, Pocklington Tennis Club has been gaining a lot of attention recently.

The video we received from Linbee Dog Rehoming following our donation of 100 of our used tennis balls was picked up by BBC East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire who created their own edit, which mentioned the Club, and shared it on their platforms. That video has now had over 90,000 views on their Facebook page alone!

Following the sending out of a press release about the Club from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the story has been picked up by The Press in York (read their article here) and also That's TV York, who interviewed Chariman Chris French.

Booking system update

ClubSpark, the system we use for membership and for court booking, has recently rolled out a number of updates, including the facility to list the people joining you for your court booking as mentioned in the last email.

However, as it is often the case with updates, this has caused issues elsewhere in the system. Whilst ClubSpark are working on fixing the bugs, we have switched off the facility to list the people using a court and with it the option to pay guest fees online.

Hopefully everything will be up and running correctly soon but, in the meantime, if you have any problems booking a court or with the system in general, please email

Need help getting playing?

Whilst many people know how to get in touch with others to arrange matches, this isn't the case for everyone.

If you would like us to introduce you to other people at the Club who you could possibly play against, please send an email to Let us know what type of tennis you would like to play (singles, mixed etc) and supply us with any contact details that you are happy for us to pass on.

Similarly, if you don't need help with introductions but would be happy for us to contact you with information about players looking for a game, please get in touch too.

Mixed Doubles Ladder

We are in the process of setting up a Mixed Doubles Ladder to add a bit of friendly competition for those who want it.

A ladder is informal league system where you arrange your own fixtures against others who are ranked near you. As matches are played, couples will move up and down the ladder helping people to play against others of a similar level

If you are interested, please register yourself and your partner by emailing details to

The mixed ladder is a trial. If it is successful, and if there is enough demand, then the Club will look at introducing Ladies' and Men's Doubles ladders too.
