FSU student inspired to change the system

PBS NewsHour recently featured Florida State student James Turner and the hurdles he has overcome to pursue an education. Turner, 19, was raised in foster care since he was 18 months old and now he wants to use his education to help other foster youth. Watch!

Zhou awarded $2.5 million NIH grant

FSU physics researcher Huan-Xiang Zhou is among the first group of scientists to be awarded a new type of National Institutes of Health grant that will provide full support for their research programs over the next five years. He will receive $2.5 million as part of the Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) from the NIH. Read more ...

Nobel Peace Prize winner to speak at FSU

Nobel Peace Prize recipient Rigoberta Menchú Tum will give a public talk at 6 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Florida State University as a part of the PeaceJam Southeast Public Talk and Conference, a program coordinated by the FSU Center for Leadership & Social Change. Menchú’s public talk, titled “Healing Communities Torn by Racism and Hate,” will discuss how today’s society is affected by racism and hate and how we can work to alleviate suffering and oppression. The event is free and open to the public.
