This Month's Focus: The Wooden Spoon

Inspiration by Woodworker: Thomas

"Cherry salad spoons with blackened bowls.
Cherry coffee scoop with blackened 2 tablespoon bowl.
"

These wooden spoons are pieces of art, in my opinion. The blackening is, as Thomas puts it, "a process I have been messing with" with some beautiful results as with these creations.

After admiring these beauties, knowing how they inspire me, I wondered how they would inspire our fellow WoodworkingWeb members .. and an idea for a challenge started to form. (see below)

The WoodworkingWeb Challenge

And, now, the challenge.

Thomas is in the process of making a new creation and has offered to provide a the tutorial.

The challenge, for you, , is to use that tutorial to make your own version of the wooden spoon.
~ it might be a replica version
~ it might be a purchased wooden spoon with your marquetry or chip carving enhancements
~ it might be a different type of wood or blackening strategy, OR .... ?

Are you up for the challenge?
