Managing Employee Misconduct - Update 1

Dear All,

We would like to check if employee came to us that superior has been asking money from him/her and due to constant nagging, finally give the money to stop the nagging. This has been going on for a few months and finally employee cannot take it and report to us. How do you manage this?

Our company's practice is to withhold the employee's final month salary until the tax is cleared. We also recognize overseas' doctor note.

I will ask the top mgmt in HR Dept to speak to the Manager to understand what is happening, since I only get the information from one side. If it is the fault of the Manager, we have to counsel him and let him know that he is coming under the purview of HR and we do not want to see it happening again. Worse case scenario if this repeats again, a warning letter would be issued.

We view this matter seriously to protect staff from abuse of power or unethical manner:

-Record evidence of this report.
-Protect identity of whisper blower.
-Do an internal investigation.
-Any other staff also being involved and/or approached?
-What’s company’s disciplinary action - report to Police or termination?
