Your WoodworkingWeb Gazette

Welcome to Issue 2.06  ~  June 2015

2015 is moving right along. Some members, I'm sure, are busy little beavers building summer projects, and some of you have packed away your tools so you can enjoy the season doing other things.

Perhaps we can entice you to add something to your "to do" list: we have fun challenges, inspirational creations by our members, blog builds, and... well, that is a pretty good list of tantalizing tidbits.

And what are you doing, woodworking-wise, this summer?

You know you're a woodworker when ...

Every time you see a piece of wood on the side of the road you point it out to your wife and then debate in your head if you should go back and pick it up.”~ TonyCan

Inspirations

Pull Out Pantry

Created by TonyCan

Well, some one asked me to build this for them, the picture they showed me was a lot simpler, I wanted to get a little fancy. I laid out my design, and went out to the shop and started cutting.

Modern Outdoor Chair

Created by planksandrails

Came up with this design for an easy and quickly built chair. Comfortable and hansome chair for the porch or patio, enjoy a cold beverage by the pool.

"I love to work with wood. I’ve built a summer cottage and shed, some furniture, outdoor planters, and I’ve done a lot of intarsia. (I don’t have a whole lot of that left as I tend to give it away). Several people have wanted to hire me to do some things for them, but, in most cases, I’ve resisted – I don’t want something I like doing to become a chore." ~ Bob

Interview With A Woodworker: Wheaties

"At a very young age my brothers and I would build club houses and tree houses. Made a few shadow boxes in Jr High, but my real love for woodworking came in 9th grade shop class. In 1969, I built a floor model book shelve out of Mahogany. It’s about 4 ft wide by 4 ft tall by 1 ft deep. I still have it. When I applied the finish and the grain came to it’s true beauty, I was hooked."

Blog SeriesShaker End Table by 3fingerpat
"I volunteered to make this table for as a raffle prize for a non-profit organization’s convention later this summer. I have built several of these for my kids, one in Mahogany and one in curly Maple. Both of those were done using hand tools only, but this build will be a blend of both hand and power tools."

"My Humble Set: Being stationed out here in Okinawa, I don’t get much free time to enjoy the craft. This is what I work with though. it isn’t a lot, but it gets the job done. Also I may be a little late with the entry, but that’s fine. I just wanted to post on it anyway." ~ Chris
