The end of April, the 25th to be precise, is ANZAC Day. That's like your November 11th Memorial Day, you northern hemisphere folk. We remember the deaths of all Australian and New Zealand service people and especially the Army Corps (the ANZACs) troops' April 25th landing in 1915 (WWI) at the wrong beach and under gunfire at Gallipoli. The aim was to land on the Gallipoli Peninsula and capture the Dardanelles, the gateway to the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. Details here ANZAC https://www.rsa.org.nz/about/anzac-day-resources
I mention it be because it always brings up the problem of explaining to children and the international tourists what the word lest means as we repeat it several times during the services as we promise and say 'Lest we forget.' Consulting my complete Oxford Dictionary leaves me full of old English explanations and how, when used in front of a verb, it is supposed to remind us by making us remember what we want to forget. Try explaining all that! I simply say it's an old word meaning we must not forget! If any of you have a better translation I'd love to hear it.
Lots of historical books this month and I hardened my heart to their pleadings and refused most of my fellow authors SF and Fantasy promotions or we'd have been swamped again like last month. Might have to do the same next month with the general genre and crime promos. It is difficult to say no when I personally know how hard it is to get readers to see your books.
