Here's what's happening at Acorn...

I'm excited to say that our tiny acorn of a company is growing into a mighty oak. Before the conference we were already starting to see a steady number of submissions and inquiries. Since the conference, things have been a little...explosive. We are so excited to work with all the authors we met and fell in love with at SCWC! And to think, it's only FEBRUARY! 2018 is shaping up to be a great year for Acorn Publishing. Onward and upward!! Write on people...READ MORE.

RELEASED MARCH 15th

"He's the worst child I've seen in 20 years of teaching."

When Lois Letchford learns her son has been diagnosed with a low IQ at the end of grade one, she refuses to give up on his future. Testing showed Nicholas had no spatial awareness, limited concentration, and could only read ten words; he is labeled "learning disabled," a designation considered more derogatory than "dyslexia." The world of education is quick to cast him aside.

Lois begins working with him one-on-one. What happens next is a journey—spanning three continents, unique teaching experiments, never-ending battles with the school system, a mother’s discovery of her own learning blocks, and a bond fueled by the desire to rid Nicholas of the “disabled” label. "Reversed" is a memoir of profound determination that follows the highs and lows of overcoming impossible odds, turning one woman into a passionate teacher for children who have been left behind. Nothing is impossible when one digs deep, and looks at students through a new lens.

MEET OUR NEWEST AUTHORS

Teresa Harrison Author of MAIDEN

It's official! After approaching us in February of last year, Teresa Harrison worked hard to get her debut novel, MAIDEN, ready for publication. We are pleased to announce she signed with us at this year's Southern California Writers' Conference in San Diego.

From the moment we met her, we knew we wanted to work with her. I mean... (you may not be able to see it in her picture, but...) she has sparkles in her hair! How awesome is that?! More importantly we loved the idea behind her novel. It just wasn't ready. Now that it is, we are so excited she is joining team Acorn! Welcome, Teresa!!...READ MORE

R. D. Kardon Author of FLYGIRL

Good writers are easy to spot. When I read Robin's submission I knew after the first few pages she had talent. That was obvious. But for us, good writing is only half of the package. It's really important for Holly and I to work with people we like, people who share our passion. When we met Robin in person we instantly connected, and that sealed the deal. She was full of energy and smiles. We wanted her! Thankfully Robin didn't make us beg...too much ;) We're so happy she has joined our Acorn family!...READ MORE
