Hello Roosevelt Families!
I hope you have all enjoyed this last weekend of summer before school starts! Our staff has been busy preparing for your first day and we can’t wait to see you! Now is the time to start preparing your child for their first day of school on Thursday, August 19th! You will receive your child’s teacher assignment on Monday evening through a Blackboard Connect email. This email includes important dates, information, and a link for the Back to School Supply lists by grade level. Please keep in mind that our Blackboard Connect system releases in batches and you may not receive your email until after 8:00 pm. If you do not receive an email at all, please contact Lisa Tursi at ltursi@smmusd.org on Tuesday.
What to bring to school As you prepare your child’s backpack, please include extra masks, refillable water bottle, travel-sized hand sanitizer, and if you have a TK-1st Grade student, an extra set of clothes just in case!
Drop-off & Pick-up Gates Please review the Gate Map to ensure that you are dropping off and picking up at the correct gate for your child’s grade level. I’ve included a link to the campus map for your convenience. Here are the Gate Assignments without the map. If you have children across grade levels, you will use the youngest sibling’s gate!
Bell Schedule - Please be ON TIME! Gates open at 8:10am and close promptly at 8:25am.
Front Office If you need to come into the front office, please make an appointment with Sami Reilly or Lisa Tursi. sreilly@smmusd.org or ltursi@smmusd.org
Our district is contracting with a new organization for a Covid Screening App and I will send you the information as soon as it’s up and running. We will also have weekly Covid testing for staff and students at our school site and you will be informed of the days, times, and how to sign up soon!
As we enter these first few weeks of school, please be sure to listen to my Blackboard Connect phone calls for reminders and important updates, and check your email for any Teddy Times blasts that may come your way.
I look forward to seeing all of you on Thursday! Stay safe and be well!
