Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) achieved the biggest leap when it went up 61 places to be among the world’s top research universities (RU), moving up from 331st  last year to 270th in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2016/2017 issued today. This is UPM’s best ever achievement to be ranked among world’s top 300 universities since its ranking participation 10 years ago. UPM also came in second as Malaysia’s top universities compared to 5th spot last year. READ MORE

UPM wins grand prize in 2016 National Intellectual Property Award

In yet another achievement, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) won the grand prize of 2016 National Intellectual Property (AHIN) Award under the Organization (Best Management of Intellectual Property) category today for the fourth time since the introduction of AHIN in 2006. UPM received RM30,000, a championship trophy, an accompanying trophy, World intellectual Property Organization trophy and an appreciation certificate which were presented by Minister of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to UPM Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azmi Mohd Lila. UPM’s turnkey home project for Orang Asli in Kachau Luar, Semenyih

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) handed over two keys of houses which were built at about RM42,000 with elements of environmental sustainability, safety and comfort, for Orang Asli in Kampung Kachau Luar, Semenyih recently. This Charity Home Building Project for Orang Asli which was led by Senior Lecturer from Civil Engineering Department of UPM Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Syazwani Idrus which also consists Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Raizal Saifulnaz Muhammad Rashid, Dr. Fauzan Mohd Jakarni, Dr Nuzul Azam Haron, Prof. Dr. Ratnasamy Muniandy, Aminuddin Amdam and Mohd Razali Abdul Rahman commenced in September 2015. UPM researchers invent new nano technology to cool down building temperature

A team of researchers from Institut Teknologi Maju (ITMA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has succeeded in inventing a new system, known as Nanotechnology for Encapsulation of Phase Change Material (NPCM) that can bring down room temperature in buildings, thus minimising the use of air-conditioning or heating systems, and saving electricity bill. UPM Researchers Develop Kit to detect chemicals using pet fish

A team of researchers from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has succeeded in developing an easy-to-use, fast and cost-effective kit for rapid toxicity screening of chemicals or compounds using ornamental zebrafish. Called “Danio Assay”, the kit was developed using the embryos of Zebra Danio fish,  scientifically known as “Danio Rerio”, to determine the level of toxicity of chemicals in daily goods, especially food, cosmetic and medicine. Prof. Dr. Latiffah A. Latiff who is a lecturer at Community Health Department of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has been named the recipient of 2016 Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM). The accolade saw her receiving a certificate of recognition and a trophy from Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.
