Meraki 2.0 !

GDi is back from its annual offsite, Meraki 2.0! Amidst the scenic beauty of Bhimtal, the team spent time together to step back and Celebrate the victories and failures, Relate to our collective purpose and Formulate the next year to reach our vision.

In this process of formulating our next year, we were joined by Manjula Singh, Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) India's head who inspired the team by sharing her journey in the development sector and the key ingredients to learn and grow in the sector: Perseverance, Passion, Patience and Partnership.

Project Updates

Creation of farmer oriented information dissemination mechanism

Taking the initiative ahead, the project is now developing a personalized text-based dissemination mechanism to send out the most relevant information directly to the farmers through text messages. We are doing this by leveraging the exhaustive database of farmers, available with the Government of Orissa (GoO), to formulate an algorithm which would nudge farmers through a targeted approach and will provide them with personalized suggestions.

Using this algorithm, key information on prices of crops being grown by them in nearby markets as well as suggestions for alternate crops that can be adopted by them will be disseminated based on the geographic and seasonal constraints.

Paryavaran Mitra

Paryavaran Mitra, is the Delhi Government’s newly-launched volunteering initiative to invite citizens to contribute towards improving the overall environment of Delhi. GDi is involved in supporting the Department of Environment, GNCTD in onboarding and managing these volunteers.

Meet Vaibhav!

Vaibhav Chowdhary comes with more than 16years of experience in the field of energy and environment. He joins us as a partner, and also serves on the board of the Clean Air Fund in India. Earlier, Vaibhav worked as a Director at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC).

Prior to UChicago, Vaibhav served as the National Energy Adviser to the Government of UK (in India). He had also worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Sr. management consultant, leading projects on energy efficiency and renewables.

He holds an MBA (with honors) in Power Management and is also an Executive Management Professional from Booth School of Business at UChicago, USA.
