Have you ever seen the movie Field of Dreams?

In the movie, an Iowa farmer hears this voice that says, "If you build it, he will come." And said farmer gets a sudden urge to build a baseball diamond on his land.

The ball field ends up bringing a family reconciliation and a line of spectators, which ultimately saves the struggling farm.

Kind of a weird plotline, I know. Stay with me here.

The message we get from this story is deceiving when we apply it to a website strategy.

Sometimes I think coaches get this idea into their head that if they launch a beautiful website, suddenly they'll have a waiting list of clients.

But my friends, a website is NOT an "if you build it, they will come" thing.

Don't get me wrong, your website is a valuable positioning tool. When done well, it can set you up for success.

But expecting it to magically bring you clients all on its own is like deciding to host a party and never sending out the invitations.

No one will show up.

You've got to let people know - people who desperately want to come to that party - that you even exist.

You do that by putting in the effort to drive traffic to your new website.

Now, how to drive traffic is way beyond the scope of a single email.

But I will say that what I recommend doing is driving traffic organically at first with your time and energy.

Use that organic traffic to perfect your website content and message so you aren't putting money into something that doesn't convert well.

Once you have 100 people or so onto your site, then you'll have a gauge of where you need to adjust. Fix what needs fixing.

Then amplify what's already working with paid ads to bring in the clients.

And remember - if you build it, they won't just come.

Your website positions you. But you still need to do the work to bring people to it.

Hope that's helpful my friends.
