Upcoming software upgrades and HPC downtime

Our annual software upgrade will take place from Monday, August 13, through Friday, August 17. During this time, we will upgrade most of the software we support on the HPC. The HPC and Spear clusters will be unavailable during the maintenance.

Additional GPUs added to the HPC

An increasing number of scientific libraries and tools are taking advantage of the processing capabilities of modern GPUs. To meet this demand, we have increased the number of GPU nodes on the HPC. These nodes are general access and available to all HPC users.

Migration to new GPFS filesystem nearly complete

We appreciate everyone's patience and support during our migration from Panasas and Lustre to GPFS. Thanks to your help, we have migrated over 95% of data to our new file system with minimal disruption to research.  We anticipate we'll be ready to retire the Lustre and Panasas file systems in a few weeks.
