Although we are a small non-profit organisation, Sustainable Seas Trust is making an impact in 47 African countries, among key stakeholders in several sectors, thanks to our active networking strategy and African Dialogues events.
Through our African Youth Network, we are working to mobilise the next generation against climate change and plastic pollution.
The African Marine Network, in collaboration with UNEP and WIOMSA, is also conducting ongoing dialogues with governments around the formulation of national action plans towards the mitigation of plastic pollution, and a circular economy for Africa.
The African Dialogues include two main events. The first is the African Youth Dialogues, focusing on the impact of youth-led environmental organisations in Africa. In July, this webinar series saw inspiring youth leaders from Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa taking part in the online event.
The second event, to be held at the end of September, is a validation workshop under the UNEP Circular Economy initiative, which is a platform for dialogue with government officials from Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Uganda, and Tanzania. This event will take place on 28 and 29 September.
