Canada History Week

We think it’s important for all people living in Canada to understand the events and history which shaped this incredible country. Canada History Week is taking place from July 1 - 7, 2016. As mentioned previously with the Coalition’s Women’s Empowerment Through Music initiative, this year marks the 100th anniversary of women’s first right to the vote in Canada, and is the feature of this year’s Canada History week events. We encourage you to share stories of empowered women in your life on social media by using the hashtag #HistoryWeek2016 or #RighttoVote.

Introducing Aimée

We are delighted to welcome a new addition to our team: amazing Graphic and Production Designer Aimée Rochard. Aimée has been working with us for a couple of months now (she was behind some of our great Music Monday infographics) and she will keep helping us with the Coalition’s website and more graphic design work. With a dynamic design style that is bold, image-heavy, colourful and layered, Aimée’s work stands out and her attention to detail is evident. Her designs have a uniformity and a quality that only years of industry experience can help create.

Aimée has been fortunate to work with design agencies such as MAAIINGAN Productions and The Adlib Group, as well doing design and layout work for Urban Native Girl TV, Toronto Birth Centre, Ontario Lung Association, MUSKRAT Magazine, The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto and many more. She is also well-versed in video editing and motion graphics.

Aimée currently lives in Toronto where she enjoys biking, sunny Sundays, and playing with shapes and colours. We are looking forward to having her help shaping our Women’s Empowerment through Music campaign as well as many other projects!

NUFSICISUM Winner James Klassen

We continue to profile our 2016 NUFSICISUM winners from across Canada. This month we spoke with high school student, James Klassen from Winnipeg. Not only is James passionate about music in his community, he is also actively involved in a collection of bands and ensembles within his school. Growing up in a musical household provided an early understanding of the power and value of music for James. Learn more about why he is being recognized as a NUFISCISUM recipient. READ MORE

Have A Great Summer!

http://www.musicmonday.ca/

It’s been an incredible year of new initiatives and development, all the while making music. We are thankful for the hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, parents and music supporters who worked to make music with meaning this year. We work to advocate for the access to music for all, however this could not be achieved if it were not for your dedication to making a difference. We sincerely wish you a wonderful and safe summer, with the joys of music and relaxation singing sweetly all the while. Have a great summer!

Thank you • Merci • Miigwech • kinana'skomitina'wa'w
