Doctor Who: Legacy Newsletter #143

Greetings Whovian friends!

We have had a double whammy of annoyance on the cloud saving front.

It seems that iOS 10 has a cloud saving bug which our tech team has become aware of and it seems many other developers are experiencing too. It's a very serious bug that can actually wipe your cloud save.

To compound matters, Google Play Services has also introduced a cloud saving bug in its latest update. In this case, Google is well aware and should hopefully be fixing quickly.

But the good news is that we now have a backup cloud save that we are actively running.  Note however that players must be signed in to Game Center (iOS devices), Google Play or Amazon whisper games services in order to use it.

Players can confirm that they are signed in because they will usually see a welcome banner. Also, they will see a long string of characters on the option screen where they save to cloud. It should say SOCIAL HASH.

In the next two weeks, we will be releasing a client update which we are busy testing which will make our in-house cloud solution the primary method of backing up and protecting your save.

We'll still support the store cloud saving, but our in-house solution has been designed with Legacy in mind, to be a more elegant solution.  Our in-house cloud save will remember your team saves, remember your S Perks, remember your chosen Outfits and remember you paid to unlock packs.  Making reinstallation a much better experience!

We are also in the process of phasing out our support of Facebook, primarily as web browser support of Unity is becoming scarce.  While we don't have an end date in mind for discontinuing Facebook, we do hope that players will choose to migrate to mobile.  With that in mind, we plan to offer free migration of your Facebook account to supported mobile platforms provided you have unlocked the Fan Area -- this requirement is because it is not an automated process and will require time from our tech team to personally migrate each account.

Ask Sharee!

For this week's Ask Sharee, I'll be covering combos and technical enhance perks to get the most from your teams.

When matching gems, matches of two groups of three like colors will do more damage than a full row of 6 gems due to combo bonuses. The full row will count as only one combo where as the two groups of three will count as two combos.

As for technical perks, choose the shape that works best. I tend to go for the full horizontal line for my play style but will switch to the cross shape on levels where I know I might be encountering cracks in time. When using a convert team I find using the horizontal perk works best while converting all gems to my main color while excluding pink gems from converting. When possible, you're able to get two technical perks with one of your main color and the one of pink gems. The two perks combined with bonuses from combos will allow your team to do more damage then converting the board to a mono color board.

L.I. Who

L.I. Who is in November and while (sadly) we won't be there in person, we will have a special code there for those who do!

Have a blast mingling with Paul McGann if you are a lucky attendee and tell him we say hello? :)
