Court Rejuvenation & Improvements Update

Whilst the winter months are usually a quiet time for tennis clubs, that certainly hasn't been the case for us this year.

All courts have been rejuvenated and the general consensus of those who have used them is that they are playing really well - though it will take time for us all to get used to the different speed. Just as importantly though, they are safer and have lots more life left in them.

At the same time, we have changed some of the gates onto the courts to allow for maintenance access, concreted the pathways and improved the decking area.

Work is still on-going, including the need to add a little more sand into the courts within the next few weeks (don't worry, you won't notice it is there!).

Please help us to keep the courts in good condition by:

  • Changing into your tennis shoes at the Clubhouse, not the car par
  • Ensuring that the courts are clear of leaves and debris before play commences

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this project - most notably Lyth Watson, without whom things wouldn't have progressed as well.

Horsley Trophy 2020
Horsley Trophy

6.30pm, Monday 13 April 2020

Following the success of last year’s Horsley Trophy, the 2020 tournament will again be played under floodlights as our season opener.

The Horsley Trophy is a friendly, mixed tournament but there’s no need to find a partner. You will play with and against various people during the evening, keeping your own score throughout (don’t worry – we’ll keep track so you don’t need to bring a calculator!).

The tournament will culminate with a final played out by the two top scoring men and the two top scoring ladies.

A BBQ and refreshments will also be available.

This event is for members only.

The draw for Wimbledon tickets will also take place on this evening. If you are a paid up member and opted-in with the LTA, keep your fingers crossed as we have some great tickets this year!

League Team Practice Evenings

The league season is not too far away and, as always, we'll be organising our practice sessions ahead of the first set of fixtures.

This year we see the welcome return of the Men's C team, which will give some junior players, and adults who are not quite ready to feature regularly for the B team, the chance to experience and enjoy competitive tennis.

We still require a captain for the Ladies' Fulford League. If not, then we will not be able to enter a team this season. If you are interested in being the captain for this, please email us.

Practice evenings will start week commencing 30 March and will take place on the following evenings from 6pm:

  • Tuesday: Mixed
  • Wednesday: Ladies'
  • Thursday: Men's

If you would like to be considered for selection for any of our teams, please attend as many of these sessions as possible.
