Prof receives lifetime achievement award

Florida State University English Professor David Kirby, a prolific author and world-renowned poet who has taught generations of students, has been honored by the Florida Humanities Council with the 2016 Florida Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing. Kirby accepted the award April 8 at the Florida Governor’s Mansion. Wash Post: FSU study says 40 percent of former NFL players have brain injuries

The Washington Post writes about Florida State University research that is “one of the largest studies to date in living retired NFL players” and the “first to demonstrate significant objective evidence for traumatic brain injury in these former players.” Dr. Francis X. “Inked: An Evolution of Print Culture”

A museum object class in FSU's Department of Art History will host its grand opening of the exhibition “Inked: An Evolution of Print Culture” at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 18, at the William Johnston Building Gallery. Twelve students from the class created the exhibition, which runs through April 28. The exhibition features a collection of Renaissance prints donated by Tobias Mostel, the first-edition of John Milton’s “Paradise Lost” and a 16th century title page from a Martin Luther Bible.
