Greetings Whovians!

I'm sure we don't have to remind you that the premiere of Season 8 of Doctor Who is this weekend and that means the launch of Season 8 content for Doctor Who: Legacy!  Read on for all the details!

What to Expect this Weekend!

This weekend, Deep Breath, the first episode of the new Season 8 of Doctor Who will premiere on Saturday worldwide.  Sunday morning, at 11 am pacific (safely past spoiler concerns), the Doctor Who: Legacy team will release Deep Breath in the game.

  • Deep Breath will be found in a new Season 8 button in the Specials tab.
  • There will be an Easy, Medium, and Hard version which you can choose based on your level and the amount of challenge you want.
  • The drop, which we are not announcing in advance, will be awarded to you on first successful completion of the level, regardless of chosen difficulty.
  • There will also be a new Expert mode level coming at the same time which, as always, will be extremely challenging and only for the most experienced players.  The reward however, which is guaranteed on first successful completion, is well worth it, I assure you!
  • At 12 noon pacific, we will be on Twitch for our weekly broadcast at a special date and time. Join us at www.twitch.tv/theadiposetv to talk about the new season of the show, the new content in game, and to receive a promo code that will unlock the very first of the Season 8 costume series - this one is for Jenny!  Everyone on twitch will be able to claim the code!  And if that wasn't enough, BBC Worldwide has provided us some Doctor Who Quiz Books and novels to give away to some lucky winners!

Subsequent weeks will be similar though we are hoping to begin to release on Saturday night instead of Sunday morning -- stay tuned for more info on this!

Update 2.4

Update 2.4 is coming next week!

This is a relatively small update BUT it does include some.....ahem......aesthetic changes as a result of the launch of Season 8.

Also, it fixes issues some players have had with the Daily Login Bonus and miscellaneous bug fixing.

BBC America 'Scavenger Hunt' on iTunes and Google Play

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Season 8, we've teamed up with BBC America to include promo codes within the descriptions of some of the available episodes of Doctor Who on iTunes and Google Play.

A careful eye will find codes to unlock various Doctors and costumes.  Codes are only usable on the platform you find them on -- in other words iTunes codes work only on iOS.  Google Play codes are only usable on Android.

Enjoy!

The Game That's Kept Me Sane Waiting For The New Doctor Who

by Mike Fahey, Kotaku.com

"Late last year when we were first introduced to Peter Capaldi as the next regeneration of the Doctor we were also introduced to Doctor Who: Legacy, a companion collecting puzzle game from Tiny Rebel Games. It's come quite a long way since then.

Like the popular Puzzle and Dragons, Doctor Who: Legacy is a game about collecting color-coded creatures and using them participate in match-puzzle battles. Unlike Puzzle and Dragons, Doctor Who: Legacy isn't all about paying for rare monsters. There are no ads in the game, just a simple, understated store, politely clearing its throat when you wander over and mentioning that, should you be interested, there are things for sale. It's one of the very best examples of free-to-play."

The DWW Interview: Susan and Lee Cummings – Doctor Who Legacy

Excerpt:

"One of the problems with console development is that budgets, teams, scope, have gotten MASSIVE. There are console games where you have multiple producers who each deal with just one aspect of the game. From a holistic standpoint, it is just impossible, on a team of hundreds, to really feel like you have your arms entirely around what you are developing. We wanted the opposite experience. We wanted our hands in every aspect of this game from development through to publishing and marketing and tech support. Everything. People email support and they hear back from the executive producer, the creative director, or from the technical producer in Taiwan. That’s really cool in my mind. And we’ve never had this sort of direct dialogue with our fans. Where on a moment to moment basis we can throw out a question on Facebook regarding what ability a new ally should have and within an hour over a thousand people have given us their opinion. And an hour later, the game has been updated.

But the values our past employers taught us – Rockstar in particular – was a fierce protectiveness of game design. That what is best for gameplay is always what is best for the game. That obsessive attention to little details matter and get noticed by the player."
