Site upgrade, new sessions & more!

From Brad @ Southend Parkour

Hi all! Welcome to March! It's been a really busy start to the year but we're pushing forward and working hard to provide more positive opportunities to learn and move together!

Please read below for some important updates!

Class changes for March 2016

No classes will be running Friday March 18th or 25th 2016 due to the hall being unavailable on both of these days. All classes booked for either day have now been refunded. All other classes are due to continue. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Fancy giving Parkour a go? Here's your chance!

To cater for the growing interest from current students, parents and those interested but yet to give Parkour a go, we're launching a monthly adult indoor session which will cater for 2 main needs:

  • Beginners: For those new to Parkour:
You can expect: 1 hour of coaching including a warm up, basic movement coaching and exercises to take-home; followed by open use (within reason) of the space and and equipment available, practising in the skills you've just picked up!
  • Regulars: Weekly adult class regulars:
You can expect: Option to join in with a group warm up or a self-direct followed by the chance to set up, move and create your own set-up with the equipment available, honing and refining skills, movements and exercises under supervision of the coaching team. Access to rope, mats, bars, beams, vaults, frames books and more!

This session is open to those 16 years and over (unless otherwise specified by an SP coach). Please do share with friends, neighbours and colleagues, especially if they've expressed an interest in trying Parkour as this will be an ideal opportunity to start! The first 3 of these sessions will start Saturday March 26th from 12:15pm until 2:30pm and due to repeat on the last Saturday of April and May.

These sessions will only continue with a good turnout through all 3 Saturdays so please share, encourage and sign up via the booking system here.

Website redesign, blog updates and more!

Better for browsing!

The website has had an upgrade to improve the design and ease of use for those browsing. This redesign has:

  • Added booking available directly on the classes page
  • Improved mobile and tablet integration/navigation.
  • Clearer descriptions, links and information.
As with any update there may be a few issues/errors (hopefully not), so please  get in contactif you notice any bugs or issues with using it.

Sportivate sessions!

By the end of March we'll have finished 3 rounds of Sportivate delivery working with a girls-only group, an "at-risk" group and a class for home-schooled young people!

All of these classes have been well attended with a hope to continue these sessions on over the next few months. The success of these sessions will hopefully help SP obtain future funding to produce further exciting opportunities for new and existing students in the area.

What shoes for Parkour?

It's been shared already but finding quite regularly at classes shoes being worn which may affect the overall efficacy of certain movements and techniques.... In short, please try to wear trainers with a flexible rubber sole along the full width and breadth of the bottom of the shoe. Fully link via the button Below
