reSolve trial lesson sequences

As part of the reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry project, teachers are invited to register their interest to trial materials (F–10) in their classroom. Materials for Years 5–8 will be available from Term 3, with those for other year levels available in Term 4 and early next year.

Trialling can be two forms:

  1. ‘Light’ trialling where a lesson sequence is taught, and feedback is offered via an online form.
  2. Intensive or 'heavy' trialling, where an Outreach Officer will observe part or all of a lesson sequence. They will de-brief with the teacher after the lesson and record more comprehensive feedback, complete an online form, and collect photos of students’ work.

For more information and to register your interest, go to http://tiny.cc/mbi-eoi-trialling.

Subscribe to reSolve newsletter

You can subscribe to the reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry email newsletter by completing the form at http://tiny.cc/mbi-newsletter. The newsletter will be the main conduit for keeping the educational community updated, including the availability of new lesson sequences.

[webinar] Advocating for mathematically highly capable students (Primary years)

Tuesday 9 August 2016, 4:30 pm EST
Presenter: Linda Parish

Contrary to popular belief, students who are mathematically highly capable or gifted are not a 'privileged' group, they are simply children who learn differently and therefore may require a different type of teacher support. This session explores some of the unique learning needs of highly capable mathematics students, and suggests some important ways teachers may be able to support this learning.

[featured resource] Getting into the Mathematics Conversation

Portia C. Elliott, Cynthia M. Elliott Garnett (Eds)

This book was commissioned in response to teachers’ requests for help with integrating reading, writing, listening, speaking, and other communication forms into their mathematics classrooms. The result is an outstanding compendium of readings from the NCTM’s school journals, providing a rich resource for mathematics teachers at all levels of schooling.
