It is hard to believe that we are now in the 2nd half of 2016!  With this comes into effect the new global regulations concerning container weight, named SOLAS.  Please click here to read some interesting information covering SOLAS from our preferred software vendor, WiseTech Global.

During the past week, 5-SLN, for the first time in many months, has no new 5-SLN Members to announce although  3 Applications are pending.

MEMBERS LEAVING 5-SLN:
Millennium Shipping Services of Oman:  Resigned amicably due to slow economy.
GM Trans Logistics & Trading of Vietnam:  Failure to achieve 5 Star status by anniversary date.
Direct Freight Solutions of Jordan: Terminated for non-payment of Membership Fees.

With immediate effect these 3 companies no longer have any PIP Coverage.

Subject:  Verified Gross Mass (VGM) & Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS):
Effective from 1st July 2016, the newly regulatory rule will be applied on all loaded container with Verified Gross Mass (VGM) by the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).  We would like to introduce you our updated arrangement on the Verified Gross Mass (VGM). 

Attached is the official announcement letter to convenience your work and here are some of the indications below that conclude with our new arrangement.

1. Verified Gross Mass (VGM) is required to provide for every booking
2. Administration fee USD 15.00 per Bill of Lading will be applied for LCL and USD 40.00 / Ctnr for FCL shipment .
3. We will provide a separate quotation if the scale service is needed.

We insist on providing the best quality service and competitive rate to our esteemed customer as usual.  Moreover, we will keep a close watch on the market and keep you updated about this new regulation.

5-SLN APP
The 5-SLN Mobile App for Android phones is now available and can be downloaded via Google Play by searching on "5-SLN" or by clicking on this link.  Once downloaded to your Mobile/Cell phone, the Username is your email address and your Password is your 5-SLN Access Code (which, if forgotten, can be retrieved here).

This App fully utilizes all the functions of your Mobile Phone with interactive Phone Numbers, Texting, Emailing, Chating, etc.  We will soon be adding additional features such as interactive Skype, ability to set up a 5-SLN Contact Group, On-Line Quote requests, Conference Bookings and many other options!

All the App data originates from Member Profiles, so please ensure that your data is current including Key Contacts, Emails, Mobile/Cell Numbers, Skype and Photos, etc.  Member Profiles can be updated here.

If you have an I-Phone, our App will soon be available for download.  Our App was developed to be compatible with I-Phones but the approval process takes longer.

5-SLN believes that we are the first global network to launch a Mobile App facility for its members and we look forward to being able to bring additional developments to you.
