Planning for Next Year

Have you begun planning already for next year?  I have just started to think about some new ideas for 2016-2017.  Maybe you are starting your first job this year or maybe you are moving to a new school.  Wherever you may be at the start of this new year, I have some blog posts and products that might be helpful as you begin planning.  Enjoy these tips and ideas!  Thanks for reading and following my blog.

Sincerely,

Marcia Beckett

Start with a Book!

I like to start the year by reading the students a general book about art or creativity.  One of my favorites to read is Art Is... by Bob Raczka (affiliate link).

This book gives many examples of all the different forms art can take, with pictures of well-known artworks throughout history.

What to Do on the First Day of School

Last year, I asked readers what they do on the first day of school in art class.  I got lots of great responses!  Check out the long list of ideas, projects and tips.

I Had Art Today!

I saw a similar idea on Beth Carter's blog a couple of years ago.  This was a really fun and easy first day drawing for the little ones.  I had them draw a picture of themselves in art class.  If you go to my blog post from last year, you can print out a copy of this worksheet with options for either one day or two art days.
