Smarter Balanced Results: Growth in Every Grade!

SVUSD saw positive momentum with the 15-16 administration of the SBA.  The new state assessment system is designed to help improve teaching and learning.  Teachers are encouraged to analyze results of students in their classroom and reflect on progress.  The resources below can help unpack the assessment results.  Academic Coordinators or Vice Principals can assist teachers with locating data on students in their classes.

Assessment Update

  • The CST Science assessment has been replaced by the California Science Test (CAST).  The CST will not be administered for the 2016-17 school year!  The CAST is aligned with the NGSS and will be piloted this year.  All students in grades 5 and 8 will participate in the pilot.  Students at the high school will also participate, however, the grade level is TBD.
  • Initial CELDT assessments have been completed at all schools.  Annual Assessments are continuing through October.  Thank you to all for your efforts in this; we know it takes time away from instruction.
  • SVUSD Assessment Responsibilities, Calendar and Purpose has been updated with Elementary PT Scoring dates.  Please see your site principal if you have questions.
