AAMT Council meeting

The Council of AAMT had a very busy meeting in Canberra, 30 April – 1 May. Some key matters to note are:

  • The Council is developing its actions to help achieve the objectives of the Decadal Plan for the Mathematical Sciences released by the Australian Academy of Science in March.
  • An external review of the governance and operations of AAMT was received; Councillors are seeking input to inform the Council’s next steps in relation to the observations and recommendations received.
  • Reports on important AAMT projects – Connect with Maths, reSolve: Mathematics by Inquiry, and the five projects as part of the Australian Mathematics and Science Partnerships Programme – it is a busy time for the Association.
  • AAMT will be responding to ACARA’s 2016 review of the Australian Curriculum – their focus is on general capabilities and achievement standards.

For further information or to comment on any of these matters, please contact feedback@aamt.edu.au or your local Councillor.
