February 2016 with Southend Parkour

Updates, news and content!

What a start!

It's been a great start to the new year with plenty of new attendees giving Parkour a go and discovering the benefits Parkour has to offer. To remind you all of the main news which will affect classes in the very near future, I have a little boy due at the very end of February. When things "kick-off" I'll be taking two weeks off and classes during that period will be cancelled and bookings made refunded. Obviously there is a degree of unpredictability with this so I apologise for any inconvenience to you during this period. As such, it's more important than ever to be following SP via Facebook and Twitter for updates which may affect classes at short notice. Thanks for all of the kind comments and well-wishes for Jenna and I so far!

Class Changes: As an advanced heads up, there will be no classes running on the 16th March 2016 due to a hall conflict at St Bernard's, this date has been taken off the booking system.

Open Indoor Session for Adults

Shortly we'll be adding a monthly weekend indoor training option for the growing amount of adult students. This session will provide a group warm-up followed by open-practice space supervised by Parkour coaches to support learners in their own movement exploration and training. This session will also offer the opportunity for any newcomers who may be a little cautious about training outside, an indoor space to learn some basic movements and a little more about Parkour before heading outside. Details will be shared via the website and social media as soon as booking is available.

Sportivate Funding

As a part of Sport England and Active Essex funding we will be delivering 3 new programmes including providing for young people with learning difficulties to develop social integration, at-risk of offending working with Southend Borough Council's Youth Offending Team and a girl only sessions at a local girls school. These sessions are due to continue and open up from these target groups, which should provide more classes for our current students to get involved with.

- Please do continue to share things you like with family and friends, it really helps spread the word and will help make more opportunities for all to learn and move together.

Many thanks and keep moving! - Brad @ SP
