Tips in protecting yourself from this harsh sun

Exposing yourself to too much of sunlight is harmful and can damage your skin. Some of this damage is short-term (temporary), such as sunburn. However, allowing your skin to continue to burn can lead to future and further problems, such as cancer of the skin due to long-term skin damage.

There are two major types of damaging ultraviolet (UV) sunlight: UVA and UVB.UVArays penetrate deeper into the skin, and damaging the middle layer (the dermis). The dermis contains the elastic tissues that helps the skin to stretch.UVA rays therefore have the effect of causing ageing to the skin and causing wrinkles.UVBrays are absorbed by the top layer of skin (the epidermis). This causes sun tanning but also burning.

Both UVA and UVB rays can increase your risk of developing skin cancer. Getting sun-burnt is therefore a warning sign that you are putting yourself at risk.

Especially if you are light-skinned, you will need to avoid this ultraviolet ray.

Melanin is the colored pigment in our skins. When skin is exposed to sunlight, more melanin is produced to help protect the skin against the UV rays. This makes the skin darker - what people refer to as a suntan. Although melanin stops your skin burning so easily, it does not prevent the harmful effects of UV rays. To protect your skin from getting darker or from Skin cancer, you will need to adhere to this nine(9) protective ways of protecting your Skin.
